What is coaching?


Coaching is a conversation-based approach to moving someone from where they are today to where they want to be.


It focuses on solutions rather than on problems. Coaching involves the belief that the individual has the answers to their own problems within them.


John Whitmore, described what coaching is very well in his book Coaching for Performance:

"Coaching is unlocking a person's potential to maximize their own performance. It is helping them to learn rather than teaching them."

Coaching is a journey of reflection, discovery, and self-awareness combined with action, motivation and goal orientation where required.


What makes the conversation different from others is the impact of the conversation has on the coached person where it influences the persons understanding, learning, behavior and progress.


Why coaching and who can benefit from coaching?


We live in a time of great choice and huge opportunities for many people. It provides both space for exploration and discovery but also room for confusion and uncertainty.


The sheer volume of information we receive and the choices we have can bring with them a sense of confusion; of too much to do with too little time to do it and of disconnectedness from our core values.


Along the way, coaching creates clarity of purpose and direction, challenges limiting beliefs and self-talk, and encourages clients to move towards a successful resolution of their issues, challenges, and opportunities.


Coaching benefits anyone who is ready for a change. Anyone who is ready to move forward.


What results can I expect from coaching?


Coaching supports people to build lives that make them happy, add to the world and generate a stronger emotional success. It's a wonderful opportunity to help people achieve their aspirations and take steps away from the problems that may have held them back for so long.


In addition to tackling immediate challenges and opportunities, over time the individual will often experience broader benefits, such as improved confidence, resourcefulness, and emotional maturity.


How can I support you?


As a coach, I am not a subject expert but rather focused on helping the individual to unlock their own potential. The focus is very much on the individual and what is inside their head.


I will help you and/or your team to gain clarity on situations or topic to make progress. Support your way forward by facilitating your decision-making process or by encouraging you to get into action and make change happen.


But remember it's a self-initiated transformation – you have to have the will to change. I will just support you along your way.
